Torch Award 2016

This past month, two MSC representatives spent a day at Harvest Christian Academy in Elgin, Illinois, to conduct this year’s Torch Award interviews.  The Torch Award is a one-year full scholarship award earned by one male and one female high school athlete who attend HCA.  This year MSC and HCA school representatives narrowed it down to 7 finalists, 4 males and 3 females.  All students were asked to complete a lengthy application, gather several letters of recommendation on their character and service, as well as provide all academic transcripts.  All seven of this year’s finalists did an amazing job with their applications and essays.  “It’s always a joy to be a part of seeing and meeting kids who are on point in so many areas of their life academically, physically and spiritually,” replied Bob Swaback.

It was a grueling interview process, and each applicant made a great case as to why they are deserving of becoming the next Torch Award winner.  Stay tuned, winners will be announce in the middle of May as Torch Awards will be handed out at HCA’s year-end athletic banquet.

A special thank you goes out to David Lockwood, HCA Athletic Director, and Carli Lopez, HCA Director of Student Services & Guidance, for all their help and input!
