Monthly Motivation: Broken Cookies

Last month, our volunteers and staff were blessed with many holiday surprises, but one little girl truly stole our hearts. She visited one of our locations with a special, homemade Christmas card for HCC manager Paul. Along with the card, she handed him a batch of homemade cookies, but as she passed them to him, she said, “Sorry, Mr. Paul, I broke your cookies because I was in a hurry to come and see you and give them to you.” Paul, with a warm smile, replied, “Broken cookies taste just as good as whole ones, and I can’t wait to try them!”

The holiday season is always our busiest time of year, but it’s moments like these—small acts of kindness—that make it one of the most memorable.
