We are THRILLED to announce that, because of your generosity, 1,200 kids received brand-new backpacks and school supplies last month, making our Seventh Annual Back2School impact the largest to date! 100% of the backpacks and supplies were donated by individuals and organizations in our community which is what makes this special outreach so meaningful! It truly takes a village to serve, and you all stepped up in a big way!
Meet Jillian (pictured below) – when she was being checked in at HCC she was excited to hear we had backpacks left and she would be able to pick out her favorite color and design! Once she narrowed down her top two favorites, without looking inside, she chose the teal-colored backpack. When she did unzip her new backpack, to her surprise she found a brand-new, matching lunch box inside as well! While holding her new lunch box, she let out a little scream and jumped up and down saying, “Mama, mama look!” Her mom had told her just the day before that she was not able to get them new lunch boxes this year because everything was costing more. Jillian hugged volunteers and team members and said “thank you” about a dozen times for her backpack, school supplies and, yes, one good looking lunch box!
